Art Therapy - Hannah Sherebrin

I am an Art Therapist and supervisor with a small private practice in Israel and Canada.  I believe that creation is an innate part of our being, therefore in order to have balance in our life we need to be connected to our creativity.  Becoming aware of our emotions our body and our thoughts, helps us learn to take personal responsibility for our reactions and choices in a conscious way.

As a therapist, I see my role as a catalyst.  Like in a chemical reaction, when 2 elements meet, something new is born.

So it is, I believe, in therapy.  I am there to explore, listen, be empathic and help bring out the hidden inner knowledge in the client.  At the end of the process both of us are changed.  Hopefully we are more resilient, more compassionate and able to find better mental and emotional balance. The creative process enables us to open ourselves to new possibilities and heightened fulfillment.

I work mainly with adults who suffer from trauma, bereavement, losses and depression.  I am trained in treating trauma and employ various techniques, including mindfulness, use of art materials, body awareness and movement in order to facilitate healing, resilience and growth.  My main approach employs positive psychology mindfulness and humanistic philosophy. However I employ other modalities according to the needs of each individual case, which fits the client’s comfort zone.  Clients learn to accept themselves with loving kindness and will be encouraged to lead a more authentic and inspired way of life.
